My Project

I teach in a rural school in South Arkansas. My students are always hungry and I often provide snacks for them with my own money. These snacks will help them stay focused on learning and not on their stomach. Students today need extra support at school. They often look to the teacher as a parent figure.

Many students do not have their basic needs met when they come to school, such as food and/or snacks.

By providing snacks for them, they will be able to focus more on paying attention and learning the material. A student who is hungry does not care about learning. It is my job to teach the content and try to help with their basic needs.

In conclusion, a student will not learn for a teacher who does not care about them or try to develop a relationship with them. Even though I have only been teaching for a short time, I am trying to get to know my students and help them learn. By providing snacks for them, I am hoping to build relationships.
