Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My third graders attend a public school in an urban district. It is a Title I school, and 100% of the students qualify for a free or reduced-price lunch. Coming from an urban district and a Title I school, unfortunately, my students do not have as many supplies and opportunities as students in the surrounding districts.

This year, I have 25 inquisitive and eager students, many of whom are not on grade level.

They include SPED, English Language Learners, and LTSS students, but they are always ready to learn. My students are full of energy and their creativity shines through in all of the work that they do. They soak up everything you put out.

My goal is to make their VIRTUAL school experience meaningful and fun while also setting high expectations and providing a safe, loving environment for all of my students, no matter their circumstances. Your donations mean more than you will ever fully understand!

My Project

One of my favorite memories of school was seeing how creative my teachers would get with incentives and rewards to keep us motivated. Being a teacher is difficult, but being a teacher during distance learning due to a pandemic is a whole different story!

“Learn as much as you can while you are young, since life becomes too busy later.” – Dana Stewart Scott

I have created a way to keep the students motivated and engaged during distance learning. Every time the students log in and participate they get a raffle ticket, every assignment they complete, they get a raffle ticket. At the end of the week I will draw a raffle winner and they will get to choose a gift card! I think this will push students to really give 100% while we are in full virtual learning! This reward system has gotten expensive which is why I am reaching out to donors like you for help! Please help me motivate my scholars to get all of their assignments turned in and providing them with a small reward. The students love receiving snail mail and the stamps and gift cards will keep them wanting to do there best during this most challenging time!
