My students need beakers and graduated cylinders to conduct science experiments.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students have really enjoyed conducting experiments over the past couple of weeks of school. However, the beakers and graduated cylinders we have at our school are glass and break easily. Having plastic beakers and graduated cylinders will let my students be more successful!
I teach 90 7th grade students in New York.
I work at a public school that has grades 6-12 in it. The school's goal is to promote college readiness and give our students the opportunity to be successful in the future. My students are very excited to learn science and love doing hands on labs and experiments.
My Project
My students love doing hands on labs and experiments. They will have the opportunity to complete more labs with the beakers and graduated cylinders. We are getting ready to start our Clues to Earth's Past Unit and will discuss rocks and minerals. The fossil kit will be very useful for them to see fossil models. The graduated cylinders will be used to measure the volume of liquids, to find the volume of solids using the water displacement technique, and creating density columns. The beakers will be used for making solutions, heating liquids, and conducting other experiments. The students will get to complete more labs with the new equipment. Students will also have the opportunity to design their own labs after school and can use the new equipment. Allowing the students the opportunity to complete more labs will make them more successful with science in middle school and then these skills can be applied to science classes in high school.
My students will really appreciate having more lab equipment to use in the classroom.
Building lab skills is a valuable thing for students to have. It will help them be better prepared when they move on to high school and then to college. Without your help, my students will not have the opportunity to conduct as many experiments.
