Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are inner city students, the school has an 80% poverty rate. The students that will directly benefit from this project are enrolled in my ninth grade biology course.
Many of my students never leave the city limits of our district.
I teach my course by introducing students to global issues. It is my goal to develop students into global citizens and show them how they can apply the skills and concepts they are learning to make the world a better place.
My Project
Explore Learning Gizmos are virtual labs where students engage in real world problems. They learn the NGSS aligned curriculum by conducting investigations, collecting and analyzing data, and communicating their findings.

During our free trial students became national park rangers, investigating animals populations. They collected data by virtual drone and applied what they learned to analyze human impacts on the local food web. After we completed the STEM case I polled the students anonymously and they all loved it!
Explore Learning Gizmos are perfect, especially during remote learning. Students are truly engaged using this resource. There are over 400 simulations available, meaning the application of this technology is incredible. Please help my students to become scientists.
