Student-Led Science Coding Club

My students need 2 LEGO Boost Creative Toolbox Building and Coding Kits and 2 Sphero SPRK + STEAM Education Robots to ignite a love of teaching and learning while being part of a Science Coding Club!

My Students

We would like to build on, encourage and support our students' motivation to run a Science Club in our rural community. This will help develop leadership, communication and team building skills as well as reinforce concepts that students already know. When learners have to teach someone what they know, their learning is taken to a whole new level. The leaders of the club will work to foster independent learning and higher level thinking skills.

This club will include classmates with and without disabilities and those with language barriers as well.

My Project

It all started with one student's goal to start a club to enrich their classmates with the knowledge they felt they knew well. From that moment, our learners have been forming art clubs, book clubs, etc. The only club that couldn't form, due to lack of supplies, was the coding club.

While students understood that these items can be costly, your support could make it possible for this club to run for years to come!

My learners are hoping to start a coding club where they can inspire and motivate others by learning beginning and intermediate coding skills.

My learners are hoping they can utilize the Lego Boost Creative Toolbox Building and Coding Kits to provide simple coding lessons that create challenging fun where they can interact with the motorized robots, create models and inspire a love of STEAM projects! Furthermore, they are hoping the Sphero Sprk + Education Robots will enhance their 21st-century skills, give them a taste of robotics and further their technology skills! What a great way to prepare them for future careers that haven't even been created yet!

Help my students accomplish their dream to become expert coders by giving students many opportunities for hands-on experiences where higher level thinking and teamwork will be important components. Please help support their dream!
