Ms. Borrelli-Luke from Camden NJ is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
We need a laptop and Microsoft word to create and analyze data. We need subway cards to allow us to have working lunches/dinners to meet deadlines.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Julie and Sierra are leading a group of students in this project that connects community and our school while exposing students to valuable lifetime experiences. Julie and Sierra are leaders by example, demonstrating leadership, commitment, determination and great technology skill sets. They have the ability to communicate the projects needs to all involved, the community, staff, students and media. Julie and Sierra are very excited to get the necessary tools that will allow better marketing and data management. Julie and Sierra sat with the leadership cohort and selected what items they needed most for demonstrating methods for transporting pets. Once they created a list, they created this project.
Students will be able to develop many life skills hat will better prepare them for college and careers using the laptop and Microsoft word software. Students will develop better communication skills while speaking with residents and when soliciting for supporters/donors. They will also create fliers and determine how/when to distribute. They will create surveys for needs assessment that will be their goal to meet. The students will also analyze data and create spread sheets and power point to demonstrate growth/findings. Students will be able to have working lunches/dinners with the subway cards which allow better opportunity for bonding and teamwork. All these skills will be developed while giving back to their community and demonstrating compassion for pets.
We would like to assist in decreasing the number of pets that end up at the county shelter, which may lead to euthanasia. We want to assist families with any financial burdens by providing free pet food, free wellness exams for pets and free neutering. The neutering will also decrease the overpopulation of pet crisis within our city.
We will have to step up and solicit for donors/supporters for our events. We also need to organize and facilitate prior to event day and the day of the event. All technology skills will be sharpened , with using the laptop/ Microsoft word, when creating fliers and spreadsheets and educational pamphlets on pet care for residents. All these skills will prepare us to be leaders.
This project does make us better students and builds our resumes for better scholarship opportunities from colleges. However, this project gives back to our community and makes families happy and their pets healthier and happy. We are building a better future for our city and modeling good behavior for younger residents.
