Student-led Adopt a Printer Program

Help me give my students learn to maintain the 3D printer they love using by helping purchase a filament dryer, small shop vac, and other tools needed to maintain their printers.

My Project

Our students have been creating amazing projects with our 3D printers. They have created well over 1,250 projects since September. It has been an unbelievable learning experience for all of us. With all the amazing ideas and creations comes a lot of maintenance and repair of the printers. Most of that has fallen to me, which I know is part of the job and the students see that. This is where the idea for this project came. A group of students saw me frantically trying to fix four of our printers that went down and asked if they could help in anyway.

When I asked those students if they would want to adopt a printer that they maintain, they jumped at the idea.

Now I am coming to our DonorsChoose community for support. The plan is to create an Adopt-a-Printer Program. Students will need the tools to maintain and make minor repairs on the printers along with some guidance from the teacher. This will not only nurture responsibility within the students, but will also free up some time for me to explore more projects for the class.
