My Project

This project supports students’ social, emotional, and mental well-being as well as the impacts of interrupted learning as a result of COVID-19. During the pandemic, I created a butterfly garden in efforts to not only beautify our campus but to provide a living, working space for students when they returned to campus. It is their happy place during lunch and after school clubs. Post pandemic, our garden is now thriving with student participation and education. Our students have now taken sustainability to the next level by educating our school community and beyond. This project allows us to continue collecting, and raising butterflies in our classroom. The habitat will allow us to share what we know at community events, such as Earth Day events. The benches and tables will allow for a comfortable eating space in our garden for our "working" lunches.
