Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Last February, through Donors Choose, my journalism students were given reporters' notebooks. The books were such a hit and enabled the students to keep all their interview notes in order. With the start of a new school year and a new crop of journalism students, we're down to the last blank notebook. For this proposal, I am requesting reporters' notebooks for the students in my journalism class. The class of 27 students creates both the student newspaper and yearbook at my school, Dr. Martin Luther King HS for Law, Advocacy in Manhattan. One of the biggest things student reporters need to help them succeed are reporters notebooks to enable them to keep and take organized, coherent notes. Having real reporters' notebooks helps boost the students' esteem as student journalists and gives them credibility while interviewing subjects. Your kind donation will enable these "budding" journalists to better practice their craft.
