Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My sixth graders are low-income, minority students who love to learn and explore the world around them. They attend our Title I school, and most qualify for free lunch. Many live in gang-infested areas and yet they still manage to walk to school every day to receive an education and to one day become valuable, contributing members of our society.
They crave creativity and using their imaginations in the classroom as opposed to lecture and note-taking the entire period.
I am in need of Starbucks gift cards to help motivate my students to be successful. Our school is fortunate to have a Starbucks right across the street which many of our students enjoy. Every year I use an incentive program to assist students to answer questions in both math and science. I also reward students for showing good citizenship. This year due to some of the restrictions with Covid-19, I am unable to give certain gifts that I did in the past. Gift cards are the perfect answer to reward excellent student behavior and achievement.
