Student Graphic Designers In Need of Poster Printer!

Help me give my students a large format poster printer to bring their creative maps and infographics to life!

FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Sultan's classroom raised $1,009

My Project

Students in my AP Human Geography and US History classes work diligently to design and create maps and infographics that demonstrate their learning. By utilizing online platforms such as Canva, my students can tap into their creativity to demonstrate their learning in unique and inspirational ways.

By creating infographics and maps, my students are able to collaborate with peers, learn how to utilize graphic design tools, and link their own original research to concepts that they learned throughout the year.

Last year students in US History created graphics that demonstrated various events in history- from Cherokee Removal and The Harlem Renaissance to the impact of New Deal Programs on our community.

In AP Human Geography students created graphics and maps based on field research that we did in our community. Students plotted where local farmers' market produce came from, created designs for urban redevelopment, and finally engaged in a year-end project where they connected their own interests with course topics. One student traced the origin and diffusion of boba tea, researching and mapping the source of tea for multiple local tea shops. Another pair of students created a map demonstrating the quality of public water fountains around our city.

I hope to continue and even enhance these types of assignments next year.

The biggest issue that I face with this work is that the final products the students create can only be viewed on a computer screen. They are too large, too colorful, and much too detailed to print on my standard classroom printer.

I want to bring my students' amazing work to life by printing it as posters and hanging it around my classroom. This will inspire students to create their best work and honor them by making their learning a part of our everyday environment.
