My Students

I am so lucky to be teaching the coolest 3rd graders ever! These kids come to school from all over, eager and ready to learn every day. As a public charter, we are blessed with the challenge of meeting a wide range of students from many different backgrounds and abilities. In our classroom, we focus on creating international mindsets with acceptance, growth mindset, and collaboration.

My kids love to learn about the world around them.

Although many of my students have never had the opportunity to leave our area, they are connecting with people all around the world through their studies.

My kids have the biggest hearts. They are constantly asking questions on how to use their learning to help others inside and outside the classroom. They aspire to conserve water at home after they spent an entire unit studying water as a precious resource and connecting with real people in Africa who do not have easy access to clean water. They also elect "kindness experts" daily in the classroom so that they have a peer to confide in if they need help emotionally or with figuring out trouble with friends. These kids truly are amazing.

My Project

Right now in our classroom, we are dealing with working on a concrete floor with only 1 shelf to store our entire classroom library and our laptops! This simply does not work for my little 3rd graders who can not reach their books without stepping on a chair, and can not see where their laptop chargers are!

We desperately need a carpet to cover up our concrete floor!

Our 3rd graders participate in restorative circles twice daily! In order for us to build our classroom culture, we rely on sitting in an inclusive circle and openly share our thought, ideas, and concerns. We need a carpet to sit on so my kids can get off the cold, hard concrete. We also will use this carpet for a quiet, soft place to sit and practice mindfulness in our weekly meditation practices.
