Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
There are so many wonderful attributes that come to my mind when I think of my class. I have kind, energetic, and respectful kids in my class. They each have great personalities that are infectious. It is truly remarkable to be able to say these children are mine day in and day out.
These kiddos have an amazing outlook on education and are eager and ready to learn more.
Hurricane Harvey might have left us struggling, but my kiddos are strong and know that they can face any adversity that comes their way. They understand that I am trying to give them the best learning experience, so when they walk through the door each morning they are ready to face any challenge.
My Project
My classroom is full of eager, ready to learn minds. What better way to help students work collaboratively, communicate, and engage in critical thinking than flexible seating? It is important to me as an educator to provide the best learning experience possible for my students. Using flexible seating helps my students become more actively engaged in the classroom.
Giving students the choice to sit how they feel comfortable not only helps them become engaged in the everyday lesson, it also turns the learning atmosphere into a student driven environment.
Giving my students the option to use Balance Ball Chairs will help them with that nervous twitch as well as strengthen their core. The colorful lap desks will allow certain students to move away from the traditional classroom chair and work in a way that they feel most comfortable. I feel that by giving students the power to choose how they want to learn will help them become successful active and independent learners.
When a student is given the option to choose how they want to learn it then gives them the motivation to work hard for themselves. I want my classroom to be a place where my kiddos feel welcome to learn the way they want to learn. I know that giving them the option to pick the flexible seating that works best for them will lead to positive outcomes in my classroom.
