My Students
I want to create a cozy and welcoming learning environment that allows all students to learn to their fullest potential. As a Kindergartner EL teacher, I would like more flexibility seating in my classroom, which would not force students to sit only in chair at a table all day long.
I teach Kindergarten EL in a Title l school ranging from Kindergartners who speak little to no English to students who come already knowing all of their letters and sounds.
All of my student are extremely hard workers. Even though my school is very transient with students coming and leaving, they want to do well and I want to provide them with the ability to choose how they can and will learn best. Each student is doing the best they can and I want to help them to become better readers, writers, and problem solvers and therefore better students. By providing each student with their choice of alternative seating, they will have the opportunity to choose the seating that they feel will help them focus on their learning and help reduce behavioral problems within the classroom.
My Project
I will be teaching Kindergarten EL to about 24 energetic students. Students who span a wide range of learning levels and learning styles. Giving the students the choice of flexible seating will allow them to find an option that makes them most comfortable while increasing their level of academic engagement.
Every student is different and unique in their own way, and their seating options should reflect that.
I am hoping that the bouncing balls will allow high-energy students to effectively and appropriately get their energy out and focus on their academics. I am hoping the wobble cushions will help students with anxiety by feeling comfortable in the classroom. Additionally the other alternative seating options will allow students to create their own personal learning environment. Help me give my students the opportunity to learn in an environment that is relaxing, comfortable, and appropriate for all learning needs.
