My Students

I have a variety of readers in my classroom. Most enjoy reading, but I have some reluctant and non-readers. They each have their unique interests, likes, and dislikes making their reading interests incredibly varied. A key part of developing a love for reading is helping students find the right book for them.

For some students, the current pandemic has caused a dramatic decrease in time spent reading.

This is partly because not all of my students have books at home they can (or want) to read, and getting to the library can be tricky for a variety of reasons. I love recommending books to students that they can check out directly from me so they can keep reading wherever they are at. Keeping students reading is integral to keeping students learning.

My Project

With all the hardships the pandemic has brought on for my students, I want them to know they are strong, they are not alone, and they can continue to learn no matter their circumstances. Books have the power to do just that.

Increasing my classroom library will help ensure all my students have access to quality books they want to read and will allow me to better match each student to a book that is just right for them.

Students can take these books home with them so they are still reading at home even if schools switch to online learning.
