This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Second grade is the best grade to teach. The students are energetic, excited, and eager to learn. Each day they arrive at school waiting to absorb the content being taught. It is important that these activities are rigorous and engaging. Hands-on materials are necessary for active participation.
With most students in low-income housing, it is crucial to give them the tools they need to be successful whether they're engaged in live or remote learning.
My students have many different learning styles due to their various cultures and backgrounds. It is imperative to give them every tool they need to be successful as most students learn differently. Hands-on materials and various literature will help them stay engaged and expand on their love of learning.
My Project
My second grade class has a variety of learners. Most students need support in addition and subtraction within 20, number sense, and place value. Each day, students have a chance to practice what they learned during centers.
This project will provide centers for each of my students and meet their individual needs.
These materials will keep them engaged in learning and help build teamwork skills with their peers.
These centers will allow students to build an understanding of number sense, place value, addition and subtraction fluency. Centers will also help them practice phonics skills learned in Fundations.
