My Project

The effects of COVID-19 have been significant for our students. Teaching them has been an enjoyable experience. We will provide support and guidance to them as they navigate this difficult period. My EL students benefit most from learning activities that are engaging and interactive. Traditional, teacher-centered lessons are not as effective in helping students develop a deep understanding of the material as those in which students explore and discover ideas on their own. Therefore, I incorporate activities such as problem-solving, experimentation, and creating new solutions into my lessons. Additionally, I use phonemic awareness manipulatives, markers, and cameras to help them learn to read and write. Even with a limited amount of time, my students stay motivated and make progress when given the opportunity to explore. To further enhance my teaching, I attended a Project Zero Summer Institute, and I am currently reading Cultures of Thinking in Action: 10 Mindsets to Transform our Teaching and Students' Learning, in order to apply the knowledge I gained to my classroom.
