This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am in my second year of coaching at K.J.H. For the last year I have been working on funding to renovate our weight room. Over the past 4 months, I have painted, laid flooring and racks refinished. This year we had 28 out of 35 new students who never played organized football and 8 out of 16 who never played organized basketball. It's been a struggle.

My students are excited about the weight room and are hungry to get in there so they can train and get better.

Our kids have never trained before and we are in need of some basic equipment to help them develop physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Many of our kids are from low income homes. The weight room will help build confidence in our students which we lack and will translate into life and the classroom.

My Project

These materials will allow our student athletes to learn basic movements and get stronger so that they can develop confidence both on and off the field. If you are confident in yourself and your appearance it makes a huge difference on how student athletes conduct themselves on the field and in the classroom.

Building the a person is like building a house, you must have a strong foundation.

Med balls are versatile and allow for many movements to be done with some resistance. They are also very helpful for sports related drills as well.
