My Project
We believe that there is a beautiful and important relationship between people’s creativity and their ability to take ownership of their own lives and lead their communities. This innovative digital stewardship project provides young participants with an exciting introduction to community tech, enabling them to examine the ownership and impact of everyday technologies and re-imagine them as if they were specifically designed by and for their community.
Our project is designed to be engaging, creative, and interactive, providing our young digital stewards-in-training with valuable insights into the importance of creativity in designing tools for community use.
Building upon the successes of our existing Community Network, we will integrate four new community organizations into a student-designed app. Using our own tech, students will build within the app, specifically designing digital community hubs for new partner organizations. Specifically, students will have the opportunity to travel on weekly field trips to visit the sites of these organizations, interview their staff, and conduct preliminary research. Using their newfound knowledge of an organization’s services, programs, and initiatives students will then create a community hub within the Community Network that represents a digital presence for that organization.
Throughout this project, our students develop creative problem-solving skills and are empowered with practical tools & approaches to take ownership of their lives and become leaders in their communities. The skills and knowledge acquired through our digital stewardship training will enable these young individuals to develop into tech-savvy and community-minded individuals, with the potential to make a significant impact in their communities.
