This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Imagine trying to write a research paper with 15 year old resources. My students are unable to have access to current technology due to the lack of funding of our public education system.
My school is located in an impoverished area in Southern California.
Though my students face hardships at home they still come to school with great enthusiasm and thirst for learning. I work with many second language learners and students that do not have exposure to anything outside of their neighborhood.
My Project
My plan for these laptops is to have my students conduct research based reports, use programs to help enhance their math and language arts skills, and during independent work time I plan to use educational websites to give one-on-one reinforcement for the students who need extra learning support. I also plan to use the laptops for the instructional programs we currently use.
This project will greatly impact my students since many of them do not have the resources or funds to help support their learning.
Many of them are not afforded the same simple luxuries that an elementary student should have such as clothing, school supplies, or even a hot meal. Therefore, by having these laptops they will be able to have new and enriching experiences that will pave the way to college.
