My students thirst for knowledge and wisdom but often lack the resources to quench their thirst. Please help us achieve higher level classroom discussions through classic literature.
My school is located in Queens, NY, the most culturally and ethnically diverse neighborhood in the world.
The children who enter my classroom, come from all over NYC. As such, they carry with them a wealth of knowledge that contributes to a dynamic classroom. However, many of my students also come from economically disadvantaged homes. Therefore, many times, resources are scarce.
My Project
Teamwork! Students learn best when they learn from one another. Our goal with this project is help students become better writers, through modeling of original, student generated artifacts and writing. As such, we will use our new document camera to create authentic, on demand, student writing. The document camera will allow us to use student generated work to drive our modeling and expectations for the work period. Students will work collaboratively as they gain a deeper understanding of the nuances of high quality writing, as they engage in high level, student-led discussions centered around growth in writing. Good writing is a life skill. It is especially imperative, for my students, as they begin to spread their wings, as they embark on their exciting journeys to college and the work force. Good writers are good thinkers, and good thinkers revolutionize our world!
