Help me give my students access to a great program that will help them improve in reading. The Orton-Gillingham program is a powerful tool to teaching reading.

it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am currently teaching in New York City, in a second grade ICT classroom (general education and special education students). My school is a Title I school and most of the students come from low-income households with limited resources. I have the best students that always come to school eager and ready to learn. My students grade levels range from reading above grade level to some that are emerging pre-readers.
My Project
I have students that are reading below grade level and some even three years below their level. They need explicit intervention and a phonics based approach to reading. In my curriculum I will incorporate the Orton Gillingham Program called "Preventing Academic Failure" to help my students learn how to read. The Orton-Gillingham approach helps take the mystery out of reading. The English language contains just 26 letters, these letters combine to create approximately 44 speech sounds, and there are over 250 ways to spell those sounds. This program translates the spelling of these sounds into phonograms and demystifies reading and spelling by teaching students to apply rules that help make reading easier! In order to successfully administer this program to my amazing students I need to specific readers and workbooks. I'm asking for your help in funding my project. Any amount is truly appreciated. Thanks.
