The clear storage bins have helpful in reducing clutter by keeping materials organized and easily accessible. \r\n\r\nThe games have provided interactive and fun ways to engage children in introducing, practicing, and reinforcing important SEL skills. Students enjoy playing the Pete the Cat Groovy Friendship Game, where they practice problem solving and social skills through everyday situations at school, in the neighborhood, in the community, or at home. Students especially enjoy pressing Pete's head to dispense tokens needed to solve the situations. The Key Education Social Skills File Folder Game has been an engaging way to teach and support children in practicing social skills such as being respectful, making good choices, having a conversation, and managing feelings. The Learning Resources Who's Feeling What? The book interrupting chicken was a fun and engaging read aloud to support children also learning communication skills such as waiting their turn. The book Breathe like a Bear has been helpful in teaching children mindfulness exercises to help them manage their breathe and emotions. \r\n\r\nChildren are excited to see themselves and their experiences reflected in these books. Seeing themselves represented in these books helps my students feel confident, while also strengthening their reading skills in English and Spanish. My goal is to continue to build on meaningful conversations and igniting my students love of reading during counseling sessions.
