This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Every day, energetic 2nd graders greet each other as they enter the classroom ready to learn; school is their only private space in which they have ownership of, feel safe, and are a valued member of a community. Most of the students come from low-income families. Often times, many are close to homelessness, have social emotional trauma. This makes school during this unique time and with our challenges even more important for their stability.
Although A-3 second grade students are faced with so many unique obstacles, it does not stop them from coming to class ready to learn, and build higher level thinking skills.
Many students are from households which do not have parents with computer literacy skills in this social economic and demographic range.
These students are amazing children that could offer society so much more with STEAM collaborative blended learning challenges, coding, typing, math, SEL, and language arts digital learning skills. The goal is to be able to provide them with 21st Century skills and computer literacy opportunities to aid them in successful futures and versatile job opportunities.
My Project
All NVACC reading skills will be covered from K-2 grade using RAZ Kids and tier one Benchmark Advance Curriculum. Tier One Math will have learn target from tier one Envision lessons added to Dream box to support learning while also used to close gaps as an intervention in K-2 skills.
Using Clever to hold the programs students need to structure the digital resources and classroom management to scaffold instruction starting from small group implementation, then building to whole group learning supports and interventions.
Utilizing iPads as ebooks in Benchmark reading groups to learn how to operate it, and then using it with headphones with close reading ebooks to give equal access to non-readers to echo read with during whole group lessons.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
