Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is located in an urban area of Northern, California.
90% of our students qualify for free or reduced-priced lunch and the majority of my students are English language learners.
As a reading teacher, I have the privilege of working with students who struggle with literacy. Even though it's hard for them, they all want to grow as readers and writers. I am confident that Structured Literacy instruction and a multi-sensory approach will help them reach their goals.
My Project
I have been trained by the Institute of MultiSensory Education (IMSE). My students are learning remotely and need these spelling and reading practice books to be able to complete our online lessons.
IMSE spelling and reading practice books will give my students the right scaffolds and structure to become proficient readers and writers.
The practice books follow the sequence of my lessons with small groups of students. The materials will make it easier for students to practice writing and reading while we are online together. We will all be on the same page and I can easily give them corrective feedback as they show me their writing or as they read to me.
