This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In our after school program we are committed to creating a supportive, inclusive after-school environment where every student feels seen, heard, and valued. Unfortunately, our campus was affected by the Eaton Fire. Many of our students not only faced this challenge, but also lost their homes. Our speaker would build our sense of community to play music during activities and also engage students in fun games. The sports equipment and cart would make outdoor time fun. During stressful moments, students can access a calming, engaging space on a new rug with tools like stress balls, coloring activities, and games to help them self-regulate and reset. These resources encourage reflection, emotional growth, and resilience. Together, we foster empathy, connection, and a strong sense of community.
