Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I work with students who have learning disabilities and sensory needs. They are kind, resilient, and always eager to help others when given the opportunity. For this student-led community service project, my students will lead a school-wide wellness initiative by creating a “Movement & Mindfulness Zone” during recess or indoor breaks. This space will serve our entire school community, offering calming, movement-based activities for any student who needs a sensory break, stress relief, or a boost in focus.
To make this initiative successful, we’re requesting a BOSU balance trainer and an incline mat—two tools that support physical and sensory wellness.
My students will help create visual guides, set up and manage the space, and teach other students how to safely use the equipment. This service opportunity empowers them as leaders and role models while promoting inclusion and emotional well-being across our school.
