My Students

I have the most wonderful, intelligent, and varied students a teacher could ask for. I teach in a community whose families value education and support their kids as best as they can. Kids come to school ready and excited to learn.

On the surface, one would think a school in my area would have all the classroom technology that money could buy.

We are located in a town that could be labeled as upper middle class. What people don't see is the interesting mix of socio-economic levels that create a diverse and special school community. My students reflect the real world.

So, despite the heartfelt support of parents and the enthusiasm of my students, we sometimes are lacking in classroom materials, primarily technology. What we lack in consistent tech is made up for in collegiality and hard work.

My Project

We’ve been lucky to build a classroom set of Chromebooks through generous support. But sometimes the flexibility and power of a full, state of the art computer is needed to build quality projects and presentations. My students often work in teams to research historical questions, and create presentations or infographics to teach their peers. We dream of creating podcasts, video lessons, and digital story boards to flip our classroom; making content available online, any time. The technical capabilities of a new MacBook Air will enable my students to take their technical innovations to the next level. Our classroom computer will be a project generator and presentation tool we all can share.
