This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our school is home to a wonderful, diverse group of Roadrunners eager to learn, grow, and connect. Many of our students face challenges beyond the classroom and benefit from a space where they can pause, reflect, and reset.

Our students come from various cultural and linguistic backgrounds and thrive when given opportunities to see themselves represented and supported in meaningful ways.

Whether working through big feelings, developing social skills, or just needing a moment to breathe, our students deserve a space that uplifts and empowers them.

This project will bring powerful, inclusive resources to our Roadrunner Retreat Room—a dedicated campus space where students self-regulate, explore their emotions, and engage in positive behavior support activities.

Teacher Created Materials Cultural Diversity Book Collection – featuring stories that reflect the identities and experiences of our students.

Ninja Life Hacks Growth Mindset Book Set (Books 9–16) – engaging stories that teach kids how to handle anxiety, show grit, embrace diversity, and build inner strength.

Lakeshore Celebrating Diversity Floor Puzzle – a fun, interactive tool that encourages teamwork and cultural appreciation.

Really Good Stuff Social Skills Discussion Cards – conversation starters to help students build emotional intelligence, empathy, and peer connection.

Be Kind Coloring Poster & Positive Affirmations Activity Set – wall décor and mindfulness tools that support self-reflection and emotional growth.

These are some of the items that will be used daily in the Roadrunner Retreat Room and available to students schoolwide—from those working through conflict to those who need encouragement, or simply a safe, calming place to recharge.

The Roadrunner Retreat Room is critical to our school’s mission to meet the whole-child needs of every learner. This project creates a welcoming, purposeful space where students feel safe, seen, and supported by integrating culturally inclusive stories, social-emotional activities, and confidence-building visuals.
