This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our public performing arts magnet school provides rigorous dance education for hundreds of middle school students every year. One of the main goals of our dance program is to cultivate leaders who are disciplined, focused, creative, driven, and empathetic.
Adhering to a dance dress code not only builds discipline but also cultivates the confidence necessary for growth.
When students are dressed like dancers, they are more likely to believe in their abilities as a dancer. The materials I have requested (dance shoes, athletic leggings, & hair ties) will allow students to succeed in their dance training. Many of our student's families cannot afford these materials, which is why the school loans out dance shoes and clothing each school year.
