The STRONG BODY, STRONG MIND program caters to the Social & Emotional Learning Program(SEL) among school age students. STRONG BODY, STRONG MIND has been designed to help students improve their overall mental health by means of physical exercise.
Studies have shown that there is a direct connection between exercise and mental health.
While exercising may seem fairly simple on the surface, a complex chemical cascade occurs inside your body each time you go for a run, hit the gym, or participate in any other physical activity.
Benefits that occur from exercise.
RELEASE OF ENDORPHINS:
Endorphins block pain and increase sensations of pleasure.
RELEASE OF DOPAMINE:
Dopamine plays an important role in how you feel pleasure. It's also responsible for other processes in your body, such as regulating heart rate, sleep cycles, mood, attention, motivation, working memory, learning, and pain processing.
NEUROPLASTICITY WITHIN THE BRAIN:
This plays a huge role in learning new skills, activities, and languages.
INCREASED OXYGEN TO THE BRAIN:
This results in certain changes to the blood vessels of your brain, promoting potential improvements in executive functions, which includes working memory, flexible thinking, and self-control.
The benefits that come with engaging in a regular form of physical activity is a NECESSITY for our students, not a luxury. If students feel better, they will ultimately perform better academically.
Students who participate in the STRONG BODY, STRONG MIND program can expect to experience the following benefits: Higher Self Esteem, Lower Stress Levels, Improvement in Academic Performance, and Positive Mentoring. During this program, students will receive a full and progressive workout plan using this full body gym, they will receive assistance in designing a meal plan just for them, and they will also learn about body fat percentages, what causes obesity, and the overall benefits that physical fitness and exercise can have on their life.
