My Project

My young musicians learn through movement as much as they do through singing. To use their voices in healthy, expressive ways, they need strong breath support, flexible bodies, and the ability to move with control and awareness. That means we practice real fitness skills: balance, coordination, core engagement, stretching, and teamwork. These tools will help me teach those skills in a way that’s structured, safe, and engaging — all while directly strengthening their singing.

When children move with purpose, their voices open up — their breath deepens, their tone blossoms, and their confidence grows.

The yoga mats allow us to work on alignment, core stability, and full-body stretching — all essential for breath management and vocal freedom. The carpet squares create pathways for controlled movement, directional changes, and safe spacing, helping students coordinate their bodies and work together. The Connect-a-Stretchy Bands give students a fun, collaborative way to explore big, shared movements, circle formations, and shape-making that build gross-motor skills and strengthen the body awareness needed for confident singing.

These tools make movement purposeful. When students can coordinate their bodies, stretch with control, and move together, their singing becomes more focused, supported, and expressive. Movement isn’t an add-on in music class — it’s how young children learn to use their voices confidently and musically.
