The students at my school are a wonderful group of children. They love to learn new things and to experience new opportunities. My students face barriers that hinder their ability to participate in activities that aren't run by the school. Many of them come from high poverty families. There are students of every racial background in each of my classes from Kindergarden through 8th grade. Some of the students are learning to speak English at school and speak other languages at home. Some of them are from other countries such as Somalia, Bosnia and Nigeria. Others have special needs.
Our school provides more than just learning from books for our children.
It functions as a community center with opportunities for the family. Our school continues to add more opportunities to join clubs and activities after school ever year! We look forward to these and the students do too. Education is very important to the families at our school. They chose our school, a neighborhood charter school, because of its diversity, high standards for behavior and excellent instruction. All of the children in our school come from the local neighborhood.
These materials will help support my students journey to building a stronger mind and body. I want to be able to provide the opportunity for them to build on their minds through different stations while building on fine and gross motor skills. My main goal is to provide all the equipment to build on teaching and cultivating the complete child.
The donations towards this project will help the students enhance their body awareness, control and create new connections with their brain.
All of these different materials will help lead to improving and advancing our students through motor labs targeted for control, balance and eye-hand-foot activities. Some of the materials include, puzzle mats, stability balls, duck walkers, and peanut balls.
