My Students
My students live in lower socioeconomic neighborhoods that require support and resources for learning. One of the biggest challenges we are facing is going to back to school and supporting students with their individual needs.
My students have access to a public preschool with physical support at times.
These resources will be given to a classroom teacher to help the student transition from place to place, exit the building in emergencies, or loading the bus safely.
A large percentage of our students live in multi-family member homes, foster homes, other family members and friends' homes, and hotels/motels. These students and families may not have the financial freedoms to provide extra resources above and beyond what is in the school already. By helping provide transportation supports to our classrooms, this will help make sure our students stay safe and healthy throughout the year.
My Project
The strollers are used in every classroom within our building. These wheeled devices help our student evacuate the building if there is an emergency, get on and off the bus safely when they cannot go up and down bus steps, and transition from place to place within the building for physical assistance.
These items will help many students at the preschool level have a way to access the school environment with the accommodations needed to transport around the building.
The strollers will be used for individual students at this time. Due to the COVID crisis, we need more strollers and wagons to sanitize and use throughout the school day to keep students safe and healthy.
