My Students

What is the number one cause of young strings players playing out of tune? Not holding the instrument correctly because they do not have the correct accessories.

The orchestra students at my school are the best.

They come in with positive attitudes ready to learn. It does not matter what happened in the class or in the hallway before orchestra, because playing their instruments makes them happy. Our school is in a transition year. We have a new administration team that is focusing on "Envisioning Wildcat Excellence" and "Show your PRIDE." Our school is a positive environment and we need shoulder rests as we take pride in our position and posture as we play our instruments.

My Project

Students will use shoulder rests every day. Shoulder rests will help students develop correct posture and position as they play their violins and violas. Having correct position will improve intonation and we can begin developing their vibrator technique. This project will help students be successful in orchestra every day.

Often the expense of playing an instrument can be a burden to some families.

I have parents tell me they can get a few supplies with each pay check. This project will keep all students actively engaged and on an even playing field no matter their financial background. This projects helps make the arts accessible for all.
