This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I think it's important to develop a relationship with Harmony. We all sing since we are little, but we don't often hear chords let alone play chords while we sing.
With steel drums and ukuleles I want to offer my students the opportunity to play vibrant melodies and also accompany themselves while singing their favorite songs.
I have a large Latin American and black student population and it is important to me that they have the opportunity to connect with their cultures through music as well. Some of the latin percussion, like bongoes, guiro, steel drums and ukuleles are also culturally relevant for this community.
