Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My high school is in its second full year with an orchestra program. Our students are making really beautiful music and are excited about learning more. I can hardly keep up with their interest! I say that's a good problem for a teacher to have. With the increased interest in orchestra, we have a limited number of instruments for student use. Even more sad is the fact that some of the violins and cellos do not have bows. Many of the bows that do exist are warped, and others have met their natural demise due to student use. Without bows, students are very limited with what they can learn. This year, we have many plans for both the beginning and the advanced orchestra. We have an honors string group that will perform frequently for the community. The full orchestra will play several school wide performances and three music festivals. We are also proud of our soloists and small ensembles that perform for administrators and parents. Without new bows, it will be impossible to make their performances a reality. Because I believe my students deserve the best, I am asking you to donate three violin bows and three cello bows. My students will be beside themselves with joy when they hear the great music they will make. Thank you for believing in my student's ability to make music.
