My Project
I’d like to give my students opportunities to self-regulate and strengthen their motor skills all at the same time! The resistance tunnel will provide my students with the proprioceptive feedback they need for body awareness.
Resistance tunnels will give our students with autism an appropriate way to receive the sensory input they often seek while also promoting body awareness, motor planning, and gross motor development.
The tunnel will also encourage their imaginative play. They can crawl through, push an exercise ball through, and even play hide-and-seek. The timers will be used to help our students transform from one activity to the next. Transitions can be very difficult for students with autism. Visual timers are effective in supporting our students through these transitions, especially when transitioning after a fun activity like the resistance tunnel!
