Stretchy Into the New School Year!

Help me give my students a stretchy band to activate the school year with a rainbow of fun!

My Project

Music and movement are truly magical! I will use these materials to help students understand and experience symphonic music and jazz in a fun and engaging way. These guided listening lessons will help young musicians develop critical listening skills and make connections to math by understanding that music has patterns. One specific activity would involve us using the stretchy band to reinforce the rondo form during the Nutcracker March!

Imagine students cheering whenever I get "Mr. Stretchy" out of the closet.

After quietly listening to a selection of music and discussing its form; students will demonstrate the form using Mr. Stretchy and guided movement. There are also endless games and activities that can be used to engage students at the beginning of the year. I'm excited to see what we can create. It's time to replace my "holy" scarves that have been well loved and my sit spots that also need to be replaced from picky fingers! "Sit spots are for sitting!"
