This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I work at a low income school with Exceptional Children in the resource setting. I work with students in grades 3-5. Most children are reading below grade level and lack confidence in the general education classroom. Together we build a community where everyone is included. They are reminded daily that everyone has strengths and weaknesses. Hard work and kindness can carry them a long way. With the right mindset they can achieve their dreams.

My Project

These materials will help students reminder that hard work and kindness can take them far in life. Most students who visit the resource room lack not only reading skills, but also confidence in the classroom. Mindful movements through yoga will help them remember that they are in control of their thoughts and actions. These books and resource will help them fall in love with reading even when it is difficult. These items will help foster a growth mindset and continue my education for "becoming" a positive role model for my students.
