Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are 18-21-year-olds in an amazing 12th-grade setting! Our school provides transition opportunities including life skills, job training, and college skills. We are located on the Northwest side of Chicago and my students love learning and experiencing new things, especially when they feel it is a unique experience to our room.

Building responsibility and confidence makes a huge difference for my students.

We have a wide range of interests, experience levels, and post-graduate paths our students have planned. My goal is to provide instruction that prepares students for many of the challenges they will face as adults.

Including students in social-emotional skill building, cooperation, gaming, shopping, and community-based instruction is essential to their future successes.

My Project

My students enjoy fitness that doesn't seem like work, like many of us. They enjoy challenges, cooperative goal setting, and encouraging each other. These fitness tools will help us do all those things. Amazon Basics Extra Thick Exercise Yoga Gym Floor Mat with Carrying Strap mats, Yes4All LC77 Adjustable Aerobic Step Platform with 4 Risers Exercise Step Platform, and weighted balls will help us have a small fitness area.

The great thing about some of the fitness tools we already have (and these items) is: it's easy to set up, break down, and clean!

Part of our goal is to have something that can be done in a socially distanced, responsible, and manageable way. These items will augment the resistance bands, heavy rope, and yoga that my students have already tried. Thank you so much for considering this project!
