My Project

Every year, Our Academy hosts an event titled "Project Week". This is an opportunity for our students to engage in off-curriculum learning in an area of interest. Due to the noted spike in stress and anxiety currently experienced by so many of our students, I am helping to plan for a Project Week group focused on self-care. Students will try on a variety of self-care strategies to help support their mental, physical, and emotional health in the hopes that some might become habits.

Studies have proven that engaging with and being around living plant life has massive benefits for stress and anxiety reduction, boosting attention and productivity, and even increasing happiness and satisfaction!

This project would put a creative spin by enabling students to put their own creative spin on decorating the pot before planting their own little succulent to take home! Additionally we are including cookies and seltzer as a snack for students to enjoy while they are working on this project. We want to help make this experience as positive as possible in an attempt to encourage the students to really invest in this opportunity and their own self care as a whole. Hopefully, these little plants can help them and their homes or spaces to feel a little calmer and more positive!
