Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My special education students only have access to very old, outdated technology.

My special education students not only have disabilities but they also live in a low income area and most are English learners as well.

Most of these students do not have computers, printers or working Internet in their homes. Our budget for special education this year is zero. Teachers even have to pay for their own paper, clean their own classroom floors and empty their own trash. Most of the technology my students have access to is old and outdated. To simply do research or access the internet it can become an impossible task that takes up way too much time.

My Project

I would like to have a computer on campus for my students to use simply for research, email, Internet access, writing papers, printing, etc. Along with the computer, a printer with ink and paper is needed to keep the computer up and running and useful. I want the students to have a place they can go to quickly and efficiently get the resources they need without the stress of hunting around to find the needed equipment. The computer would be centrally located on campus so all the students with disabilities can assess it with ease.

My students will be so much less stress in their classes knowing they have a place to go to get all the info they need.

Also, they will have assess to up to date technology so they can learn to use technology effectively when they head on to college or work. Could you imagine being told by your teacher that your homework requires you to do Internet research or print out resources and you have no idea where you can go to get that done. My students need all the resources they can get!
