This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

High school students deal with a multitude of stressful experiences throughout their everyday lives. For many, school is their only safe zone, and they need outlets to relieve their stress and anxiety as much as possible. In my art classroom, I have 9th-12th graders with a wide variety of personalities and learning styles. Many of these students also come from difficult backgrounds and socioeconomic situations.

Coloring books are an extremely underrated and underutilized resource for alleviating student stress and anxiety.

Having a large variety of coloring books available to students at all times is extremely valuable, and also plays a large role in supplemental art activities. At times, students who are having difficult times in their lives do not want to work from new criteria that require a lot of critical and creative thinking. During these times, stress and anxiety-relieving coloring books are invaluable.
