This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Having kinesthetic tools and flexible seating ensures that all my students have the availability to have their needs met in the classroom. During independent work times, they choose a location in the classroom that best works for them. Currently, half of my class are students with special needs. My students are choosing to work in a variety of locations in our room such as: at different tables, sitting in the hallway, or laying on the floor with mats. An essential component of motivating them is to make sure they are comfortable. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating arrangement.

All my students love it when I give them a choice of where to complete their assignments; they are more engaged in their work, less disruptive to others, and able to complete their tasks on time.

The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. The balance ball chair engages the body and mind, leading to higher energy levels and increase productivity and focus in the classroom. These will be extremely beneficial for some students that just need to get the wiggles out. They can also be used as an alternative chair when needed! The kinesthetic tools will be placed in a sensory center for student use throughout the day.
