Strengthening Little Hands With Big Ideas!

Help me give my students a pegboard which is a simple yet powerful tool that helps kindergarteners develop fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and early math concepts like counting, sorting, and patterning.

My Project

I teach a joyful and curious group of kindergarteners who come to school each day full of energy, questions, and creativity. Many of my students are from low-income households and don’t always have access to educational toys and materials at home. They learn best through hands-on, engaging experiences that allow them to move, explore, and interact with the world around them.

In our classroom, we celebrate progress over perfection, and we work every day to build the skills needed for lifelong learning—one small step at a time.

I am requesting a Flash Furniture Bright Beginnings Freestanding STEAM Wall Base with Peg Panels and peg manipulatives to support my students’ fine motor development, hand-eye coordination, and early academic skills.

Pegboards may seem simple, but they are incredibly effective learning tools for young children. By placing and arranging pegs, students will:

Strengthen the small muscles in their hands needed for writing and cutting

Practice sorting, counting, and making patterns to build math readiness

Develop focus, patience, and problem-solving skills in a fun and inviting way

These pegboards will be used daily during small group time, morning work, and learning centers. They are perfect for both independent play and guided instruction—and durable enough to be used for years to come.

Many of my students enter kindergarten with underdeveloped fine motor skills, which can make it harder for them to hold a pencil, form letters, or complete classroom tasks with confidence. Pegboard play offers a developmentally appropriate and engaging way to build those essential muscles and skills.

This project will not only support my current group of learners but will benefit future classes as well. With your help, we can provide students with tools that are both fun and functional.
