Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work in a low-income school with 25 bright, smiling 2nd graders. My students are as diverse as they are amazing. I have students who are new to our country, students who don't speak English at home, students who only speak English, and students who are gifted and talented.
We are an inclusive classroom that celebrates our diversity and our difference.
The majority of my students are English Language Learners who have very little English support outside of school. My goal is to make every student feel like they can and will reach whatever they set their mind to.
My Project
All materials will help me to create STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) bins for my students. Having Stem bins in my classroom will allow my students to use their brains in fun and creative ways. Not only will students be able to create on their own, I will also be able to do team challenges.
STEM is our future.
Students will be able to use the building materials on their own during morning work and throughout the day if they finish classwork early. These bins will not only help students use their imagination, it will also help students to learn problem solving and teamwork as they work with their peers to build and create.
Using the storage bins, colorful paper, binders and markers I will be able to easily organize all materials in a fun and student friendly manner. This will allow students to use these bins independently throughout the day.
