Help me give my students requested materials including therapy putty, kinetic sand, and play-doh to provide open-ended materials to use to build hand strength.
My students are full of energy and are ready to explore their world. However, my students have a hard time understanding the world around them.
My students are diagnosed on the autism spectrum and most are low functioning.
Due to my students' disabilities, they face many obstacles daily, including communicating, daily life skills, understanding the world around them, and dealing with why things change.
My students are all currently isolated at home, most do not go outside due to not having backyards. Since they are isolated at home, my students engage in online tasks for academic instruction which includes google classroom, boom learning cards, and watching videos. My students attend school for 12 months due to their disability and with schools most likely closed into the fall, my students will be doing this for July and August too.
My Project
These materials will be shipped directly to my students house for him to use during remote learning and therapy sessions. My student is doing well with online tasks however, he really needs fine motor practice to help strengthen his hands and fingers for writing. However, since he spent most of his day at school and getting therapy inside a school building he didn't need as many fine motor games and activities at home.
Strengthening his skills is important, even at home.
I have requested materials including therapy putty, kinetic sand and play-doh to provide open ended materials to use to build hand strength. I requested Sneaky Squirrel and Catch the Fox games to help my student build social skills with his sibling and parents, as well as work on his fine motor skills. To help ease the burden of printing out sheets for writing I am requesting dry erase markers, dry erase pockets, number and letter dry erase books. I am also requesting magnetic tiles because I have found that my student loves these tiles in the classroom and they also help with fine motor skills building.
My goal is to help ease the stress that remote learning has on my student by providing him with materials to help his needs, but also provide new fun materials to use at home.
