Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a remedial reading class, my students already struggle with memory, learning, and attention. Many of my students have special needs that make learning on their computers difficult and distracting. My students appreciate the paper assignments I give them, however, many times ink and paper comes out of my own pocket.
Paper-based reading is shown to help with memory retention and reading speed.
Many of my students struggle with these skills. Slower reading means less working memory available to process information. Many of my students also struggle with attention. They know that paper assignments help keep them focused. I want to give my students the resources they need to succeed. This means continuing to give them paper assignments.
