My Project
I purchased a chess set and began teaching two students how to play. Immediately many other students were interested in learning. I would love to have enough chess sets to have a fun Friday or incentive time where students can work on more complex thinking skills in a fun way. I also chose some other strategy based games to help develop these skills.
I have recently been researching more about what makes students successful and there is no denying that intelligence stretches beyond phonics skills and arithmetic. Games, such as the ones in this project, can help develop students' ability to reason and strategize, think more complexly, and focus their attention on a goal.
